One Dad’s Mission

Jeff Bekos – a native of Wisconsin – is making a difference this summer and rolled into Madison as a stop on his 4,600-mile cross-country bike ride. This inspiring journey, aptly named “One Dad’s Mission,” is not just a personal challenge, but a heartfelt endeavor to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) global organization.
This determined dad is riding to raise money and awareness for the organization by sharing his daughter’s story of hope. His travels began in July from Orange County, CA, and will end in mid-October in Philadelphia with 26 stops in between. The destination is not only the site of the first Ronald McDonald House, but where his family stayed during his daughter’s lengthy hospitalization. (Learn more about his amazing ride here.)
During his September 16th stop at RMHC-Madison, Jeff was joined by long-time friends from the area – including former Gov. Tommy Thompson – as well as UW Spirit Squad members, board members, volunteers, and staff. Guest families celebrated his arrival on a blistering hot day with brats, picnic fare, and ice cream, while kids learned about bike safety and participated in a bike rodeo in Hope Park.
Follow Jeff’s journey and help him get to his fundraising finish line this October!
