Badger Tailgate
September 26th, 2023 | Events | Our Partners
It wasn’t football Saturday at the Ronald McDonald House, but the smell of fresh grilled brats and an appearance by Wisconsin’s loveable mascot, Bucky Badger, and the UW Spirit Squad gave the perfect game day vibes!
Guests at Ronald McDonald House were treated to an afternoon of fun in Hope Park, participating in activities led by UW athletics student-athletes, taking selfies with Bucky Badger, and enjoying all that a near perfect fall afternoon in Madison has to offer, including cornhole, tailgate food, and lots of Madison pride!
“We are so fortunate that we have the partnership that we do with the Badgers. Every team that visits the House has such an impact, whether it’s making meals for our families, engaging with guests, or raising spirits and goodwill. We are truly grateful for each student-athlete’s support of our RMHC community,” said Kristen Drake, RMHC-Madison Development Manager.
In another gesture of goodwill, the Madison Mounted Police stopped by the House during the festivities to visit families on horseback, introducing the likes of Doctor B & Thor to guests. The visiting equines got along famously with Bucky, drawing the attention of guests and passersby alike!
Team RMHC was also on hand to share an encouraging “mile” with families during the festivities. The team, who will be representing RMHC-Madison at the 2023 Chicago Marathon on October 8th, has been training, fundraising, and will ultimately run 26.2 miles to help keep families together at RMHC.
Clearly an afternoon to remember, we are thankful for the many visitors who showed up in support of families by sharing hope, smiles, and good vibes.
