A Very Badger Valentine

February 18th, 2025 | News

RMHC-Madison does not often let a holiday pass without recognition, and this Valentine’s Day was no exception. Thanks to BAASK (Badger Athlete Alumni Serving Kids), the W Club, and UW Athletics, our families were treated to a heart-filled Valentine’s Day party with creativity, generosity, and community spirit!

The festivities commenced with a heartwarming crafting session, where families colored and designed heart-shaped wreaths, showcasing their artistic talents.

A highlight of the evening was when our Sun Room was filled with a whopping 750 stuffies of all shapes and sizes from the Wisconsin Women’s Hockey team’s first-ever Teddy Toss. Our families were welcomed to a plushy paradise and each family member got their choice of a cuddly bear, bunny, or even koi fish to accompany them to the homemade Valentine’s Day feast prepared by BAASK!

The menu featured sparkling cider with strawberries, frosted heart cookies graciously donated by Miggy’s Bakes, a fresh garden salad, cheesy garlic bread, and refreshing popsicles donated by Frios Gourmet Pops. The main course featured a secret family recipe of spaghetti and meatballs!

After the event, we received a special message from our Badger friends:

“Badgers Give Back, as part of our Badger Built initiative, creates meaningful opportunities for student-athletes and alumni to connect with the community and each other. Partnering with Ronald McDonald House for the first-ever Women’s Ice Hockey Teddy Toss, cooking a meal as a team, and BAASK teddy delivery allowed us to impact over 750 lives. Bringing together student-athletes, staff, alumni, and fans to support a great cause is always a win-win, and we’re proud to leverage our platform to do good.” – Caitlin Quillen, Associate Director of Engagement & Community Outreach at Wisconsin Athletics

From a special donation of cuddly toys to art projects made with love, this was a very memorable night for all at RMHC-Madison and reminded everyone in attendance that love is always something to be celebrated. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to BAASK, the W Club, UW Athletics, and all who contributed to this Valentine’s Day event – making it an unforgettable experience for our families. Your kindness and dedication continue to fill our House with love and joy.
