A Passion for Compassion
April 25th, 2022 | News
Happy Volunteer Appreciation Month! We are grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who generously give their time, compassion, and talents to RMHC-Madison. Whether they’re a Van Driver, House Volunteer, Family Room Volunteer, Board or Committee Member, each volunteer wholeheartedly embraces their role and the impact they have in the lives of families with sick or injured children.
Our volunteer base is more than 100+ strong across our three programs. It is comprised of volunteers who span high school age to retirement, but the one thing they all hold consistent is mutual love and respect for the families and children we serve. Regardless of the volunteer’s role, they each go above and beyond to ensure our guest families feel at home.
We appreciate and value your commitment and support of RMHC-Madison, but don’t just take our word for it… below are some remarks from our families.
Heartfelt Family Remarks
“You all are so amazing; you have treated us like family the last month we have been staying with you and have gone above and beyond to help us out. These are some of the greatest people I have interacted with in the hospital.” – Keith, House, and Family Room family
“These people were so kind and caring. They delivered an Easter basket for my grandchildren while we were there. The care and compassion were almost overwhelming but very welcome and extremely appreciated. It is a home away from home. Thank you to all of the staff and volunteers for everything you do!” – Bonita, Ronald McDonald House family
“This place is the best! My son was born with liver disease and was transferred to Madison (3 hours from home) for surgery. Thank you to the volunteers for everything you do! It makes us have hope when we feel like everything is crashing down around us!”– Dayna, Ronald McDonald House family
“Always an excellent experience. Every time I go to the House, I’m reminded that there are great people in the world who want to help others! Thankful for all that you do.“ – Ashia, Ronald McDonald House family
“Amazing that they could accommodate us with a few hours’ notice. Such pleasant people to be around – everyone is so thoughtful and kind. Truly genuine caring volunteers who just seem to know when you need that extra hug or reminder that there’s coffee available. Most amazing charity, that we will never forget.” – Stacey, Ronald McDonald House family
“This place truly saved me. I was so stressed and worried about living so far away and my baby staying here!” – Anonymous, Ronald McDonald Family Room family
