A Letter to our Volunteers
April 21st, 2020 | News | Our Impact
One of the many benefits of volunteering is that it is good for your mind and body. The social contact aspect of helping and working with others can have a profound effect on our overall health and well-being. You could say, the more we give, the healthier and happier we are. Volunteering not only brings peace of mind, it can also bring fulfillment to one’s life.
During this trying time in the days of COVID-19, when it is more important than ever to attain the benefits of volunteering, we have found ourselves for the first time in the almost 27-year history, a House without our volunteers. Even though the House is temporarily absent of you in physical body, your human spirit, support, and strength have remained within these walls and we continue to feel your loving arms wrapped around us and your heart’s connection.
Though we can’t see you, we sure can feel and hear you. It has been heartwarming for so many volunteers to continue to reach out, check-in, give support and ask how you can help. In-House volunteers, meal groups, dog therapy, and all other program volunteers, we know you are there continuing your generous support. We thank you.
As you look forward to the days you can return to support our families and mission in the way you are familiar, know that we are too. What a welcoming time in our lives that will be.
In the meantime, you remain in our hearts and in our thoughts as we think of happier and healthier times to come.
