Restaurants partner with RMHC-Madison to provide meals for families with sick children during COVID-19 crisis

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Madison is committed to staying open as long as possible and providing a safe and comfortable “home-away-from-home” for families with a child facing medical crisis in an area hospital. These families do not have the ability to stay home as non-elective surgeries, chemo treatments and urgent care must continue despite COVID-19 concerns.

To mitigate health risks, RMHC-Madison’s volunteer programs, including its dinner program, are currently suspended, but staff members continue to identify new ways to meet the needs of their families.

Despite recent mass closures during the COVID-19 pandemic, area restaurants and caterers are partnering with RMHC-Madison and stepping up their response efforts to assist those who are the most vulnerable. RMHC-Madison is raising funds to pay restaurants and caterers who are able to make meals for their families staying at the House. Restaurants who offer carry-out or have been mandated to temporarily close but can use perishable inventory to help families are partnering with RMHC-Madison.  Donors can help support these restaurants while they are closed.

Community partners that have responded to this need include, Bucciferro Family McDonald’s, Brasserie V, Longtable Beer Café, and Frostwood Farms Kitchen. RMHC-Madison is also purchasing meals through restaurants that are still open including Novanta, Firehouse Subs and HyVee catering.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Madison supports families of seriously ill children by creating a community of comfort and hope. It provides temporary lodging, transportation, and meals to families who travel to Madison for pediatric care.
