April 27th, 2017 | News
Congratulations Don Michalski, the April Volunteer of the Month! Don has selflessly offered his time, energy, and kindness to the House and the families we serve for more than 25 years. He is committed to ensuring that, through his work, our families feel at home during their stay in the House. We are so lucky to have our cheerful and dedicated volunteers who help make our House a home.
How long have you been volunteering at RMHC-Madison?
Since 1991, with some fundraisers before the House was built.
How did you initially get involved with us?
One of my workers suggested the participation.
What is your favorite thing about volunteering here?
Just knowing that anything that I do can make families feel more comfortable and secure.
Do you have a favorite memory with RMHC?
Seeing how procedures have advanced during the past 25 years.
What types of things have you done while volunteering for RMHC-Madison?
Mostly the yard work, but also working at the front desk, in the kitchen and cleaning rooms.
Tell us something about we don’t know.
I typically volunteer more than 40 hours each week between Red Cross, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Dennis, RMHC, etc.
What would you say to someone who is considering becoming a volunteer?
It is very rewarding, no matter what your role may be.
